NFL Holds the First Online Draft

The NFL holds the first online draft – and it was quite a success. With the coronavirus shutting down the top sports leagues across the world, bookie PPH sportsbooks were running out of wagering options to offer. Sports leagues each try to find ways to operate despite the pandemic. The NBA had their 2K20 Player’s Championship, and the NFL is doing their draft online.

Initially, the draft was supposed to be held in Las Vegas, but plans were changed as soon as officials realized the need to prioritize everyone’s safety. Postponing or cancelling the draft would be detrimental to the league and each of its teams. So, preparations were made to conduct the very first online NFL draft.

NFL Holds the First Online Draft

NFL 2020 DraftIt is becoming a familiar scene- a screen divided into different feeds from people in their own homes. Bookie pay per head operators are familiar with this, as their players prefer betting on sports online. But holding actual events online are pretty new to these professional sports leagues.

Roger Goodell himself started early in the morning, and saw through the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. This round was proven successful, with no technical difficulties. And this was a move welcomed by many – if anything, the draft gives people a sense of normalcy. Or it was also a sign that we are going into the new normal for sports leagues.

Pay per head bookies were taking action on the draft, of course. The Cincinnati Bengals started as the first overall pick. Fans got to chime in and react on the results of the draft. Each player selected was patched in via facetime. Holding the draft ensures that the NFL will still stay on schedule- or at least a delay will not be added into the uncertainty of things. Teams can now plan on their training sessions and schedules with their new rosters. By early May, we will find out the schedule for training camp as well as the regular season. But with the draft pushing through as scheduled, pay per head sportsbooks will have lines on football that people can still bet on.
