New Jersey Casinos Enjoy Higher Revenue in February

According to the report form the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), retail gross gaming revenue (GGR) of retail casinos are at $214.9 million, which is 1.2% higher than February 2022’s GGR. That’s $2.5 million more in GGR in a year’s comparison. But to put things in perspective, this is the second highest that they have seen in 11 years. Does this mean that the market is back to its pre-pandemic performance?

New Jersey Casinos and its Numbers

It could mean that they are finally gaining back the momentum of the previous years. But they still have to make more to try to earn back the lost revenue they had when the country was on lockdown. But still, the positive trend gives many in the industry the hope that retail gaming is still popular. Of course, many would want to play online casino games, but that is still not in the cards for New Jersey, no pun intended.

The year-to-date GGR for retail gambling is at $426.6 million, around 8% better than the same time period for 2022. And for 2022, they had around $2.8 billion, a number higher than pre-pandemic times. And with the addition of sports betting, casinos in the state can still earn more from iGaming and sports wagering.
