The NFL Amidst the Pandemic
The NFL is currently in training camp, and so far, there are only less than a handful on the reserve/Covid-19 list. The league has specific rules to ensure the safety and health of the players and staff. But when the season starts, the risks also increase. For instance, teams will be travelling to venues for their games. A lot of sportsbooks are already getting ready for the season, so lets take a look at the NFL amidst the pandemic.
So far, everyone involved is taking the protocols seriously. Tests are also done daily, and there are contact tracing devices being used. Experts are optimistic that the NFL will be able to maintain their course. Some who run their sportsbook pay per head are thinking that maybe a bubble would be safer for the league. But so far, no news of the NFL in a bubble are coming out.
The NFL Amidst the Pandemic: What to Expect
The first consideration that people think of, is the schedule. This is not too big a deal for bookies, because if you read pay per head reviews, then you know that the software will automatically adjust for things like this. It will only be a potential problem if the delays will cause changes in the rosters.
The regular season will require travel, so the risk for teams increases, but the NFL is looking at how the MLB is dealing with these issues. In the MLB, there are only 5 teams so far who have needed to reschedule their games. The MLB can easily do a seven-game inning doubleheader to address the changes. The NFL cannot do something like that. The league will have to be flexible in rescheduling, going for bye weeks, or even cancel games.
Another possibility is to consider a bubble format similar to the NBA for the playoff season. It could be in the cards, but its too far into the season for officials to consider. All everyone can do right now is wait, get ready, and hope for the best, because a year without the NFL is quite unimaginable for many.
