Sports Betting in the US in 2019

When talking about sports betting, any pay per head blog will always talk about sports betting in the US. It is quite a unique situation, because the legalization of sports betting is on a per state basis. So instead of just seeing that sports betting in legal in the US, we look deeper and wait for news. So far, less that 10 states had legal sports betting by the end of 2018. But for 2019, there are quite a number of states who are interested in legalizing sports betting in their states. Here is a list of states who may join the list soon.

Sports Betting in the US

Arkansas will push through with sports betting, as approved via ballot voting last November 2018 elections. The burden is now on the Arkansas Racing Commission to draft the rules to govern the industry. Applications will begin before the half of the year.

New York should be near the top of the list, especially since the state has been clamoring for legalizing the industry for the longest time. Unfortunately, legislation on this matter is in such a tangle, that progress in this state is taking longer than usual.

Meanwhile, the District of Columbia has a bill that is a signature away from happening. They also disapprove of integrity fees, a controversial topic with sports wagering. Connecticut, too, has a law in place, but similar to New York, there is a complication they hope to address soon.

Michigan has an online gambling bill that was submitted last minute last year. But it looks very promising, and they may be joining pretty soon, granted that a few hiccups be cleared along the way.

There are more states that will be legalizing sports betting. Some may be passed straight on, while some may need more time to consider their options. Either way, this can be read through the latest gambling industry news. It’s bound to happen anyway, it is just a matter of when.
