State is On Track for Launch of Sports Betting in Massachusetts

Sports betting in Massachusetts is scheduled to launch in January 31, according to our latest gambling industry news. Many PPH bookie sportsbooks are already running and preparing for February’s sports betting calendar as the Super Bowl will be happening next month. As one of the biggest gambling events of the year, its only proper that Massachusetts sportsbooks should be live way before then.

As soon as the teams qualify for the championship game, pay per head sportsbook sites will be releasing sports betting odds that players can bet on. So a launch date of January 31 should be enough time for Massachusetts residents to place their NFL bets.

There is, however, a caveat to the launch in the Bay State. The January 31 launch is for retail sports betting over three casinos in the state. For online sports betting, residents will have to wait until early March.

This is to ensure that the facilities are ready to take wagers from residents as they go live the next day.

And even if there are no online gambling solutions for the meantime, residents will at least have the brick-and-mortar sportsbooks where they can place their bets. What is unclear, is if the online sports betting launch would go live in time for the March Madness finals. For now, all eyes are on the retail casinos and how much action they will get in their first month of operations. The state will be collecting 15% in taxes for retail betting.
