Iowa Sports Betting Market Drops in April
March was a great month for the Iowa sports betting market, logging in their highest betting handle ever. Much of the iGambling Industry is doing well, not counting the usual February dip for sportsbooks. Back in March, Iowa recorded $161.44 million, the highest betting handle for the state since sports betting was legalized. However, April’s numbers are not quite as good as its previous month.
The April betting handle for Iowa is $118.36 million, which is 26.7% lower than March. It is, however, an amazingly high 7,466% higher than April 2020’s betting handle of $1,568,497 million. Last year, retail casinos were closed due to the pandemic, and sports events were all put on hold. Iowa has come a long way, as can be seen from the year-on-year data. Those who want to know how to open a sportsbook will find that growth in sports betting continues to increase.
Iowa Sports Betting Market
March was a great month for sports betting, thanks to the NCAA Tournament. This is the first year that Iowa residents are able to bet on the NCAA’s games, as last year’s were cancelled. Bookies did well that month as well. Many residents remained loyal and bet on the Hawkeyes, who failed to cover in their win, and lost in the second round. To those who are still interested to have their own sportsbook, there are now lower sportsbook pay per head prices available from highly-rates sportsbook software providers.
Meanwhile, the total mobile betting handle for the state is $104.51 million. This is 25% lower than March’s $139.39 million. The numbers could stay low in the next few months, are there are less events to cover without the NFL and college sports. The NBA and the NHL will be having their playoffs soon, and the MLB will be starting soon as well. But experts agree that Iowa will be seeing a lot more action, and better betting numbers once both college and professional football season begins.
